Shades of Hope Youth

A Safe Place to Heal

We provide an intensive, trauma-focused residential program designed specifically for young women ages 13–17. With an average stay of 60–90 days, our environment is built on safety, trust, and meaningful healing—not punishment or control.

We believe structure is essential, but it should never come at the cost of dignity or voice. Instead of rigid “rules,” we establish clear expectations that create consistency, accountability, and a sense of security. Within that structure, each young woman is supported in finding her own path forward.

Our small program—serving no more than 12 residents at a time—allows for individualized care, deeper connection, and a stronger sense of community.

Our Approach

We don’t ask, “What’s wrong with you?”
We ask, “What has happened to you?”

At the core of our program is the understanding that behaviors are often coping strategies—responses developed to survive difficult or overwhelming experiences. Rather than focusing solely on changing behavior, we focus on healing the underlying causes.

Our approach includes:

  • Trauma-focused therapy
  • Substance use treatment (when applicable)
  • Individual and group therapy
  • Emotional regulation skill-building
  • Anger and shame reduction
  • A structured daily routine to support nervous system stability

We emphasize nervous system regulation as a foundation for lasting change—helping each resident feel safe not only in their environment, but within themselves.

Our Core Principles

Everything we do is guided by a set of foundational values:

Safety
Physical, emotional, and psychological safety come first—always.

Trust & Transparency
Clear expectations and open communication eliminate uncertainty and build stability.

Choice & Voice
Each young woman is an active participant in her journey. Her voice matters.

Collaboration
Healing happens through partnership. We work with residents—not over them.

Empowerment
We focus on building confidence, identity, and the skills needed for long-term success.

Our Goals

Our mission is to help each young woman reconnect with herself in a safe and meaningful way. Through our program, we aim to help residents:

  • Feel safe in their own bodies
  • Understand their emotions and triggers
  • Recognize that what they’ve experienced is not their fault
  • Develop healthy, effective coping skills
  • Rebuild trust in themselves and others

This is not about control—it’s about healing, growth, and empowerment.
Because when a young woman feels safe, heard, and understood, real change becomes possible.

Who is eligible?

Our Shades of Hope Youth program is available for young women 13-17, who have experienced trauma, including emotional, physical, or sexual abuse, neglect, loss, or exposure to violence. It is well-suited for those who may also be struggling with co-occurring challenges such as substance use, anxiety, depression, or disordered eating behaviors.

Candidates are those who would benefit from a structured, supportive residential environment that prioritizes safety, emotional healing, and the development of healthy coping skills, while empowering them to better understand themselves and rebuild trust.
