Meal plan safe smoothies, thank you higher power!

So, okay. I live in Abilene, TX… a place short  on “Smoothie” shops. Apparently the Smoothie King closed down before I moved here. Bummer. Oh, how I dream of my big city Jamba Juice’s and such! Oh well, let’s stay in today, shall we? In my addiction I was a huge ice cream and milk shake  addict.  I would black out and  the whole gallon of Blue Bell Rocky Road would be gone. WTF just happened,  I would ask myself? Was it the sugar that sent me into a  Euphoric trance? Hmmmm, I wonder?

At Shades of Hope we were asked to think back to our food rituals…

When I would grocery shop, the last item I would always grab would be ice cream. Always.

  • A) I loved Ice cream.
  • B) It was all about timing.

You see, the timing had to be perfect so that the experience could be perfect. Once I checked out, drove home and got all the items on the counter, the ice cream would be at optimum readiness.  There would be perfect rings of meltedness with a soft delicious core. I’d take my spoon and score the edge of the ice cream  around the rim…. then I’d wake up and it would be all gone. I think I was just as addicted to the ritual, as I was to the sugar in the ice cream. Now that I have adjusted my meal plan… I miss that ritual. I looked forward to it every time I went to the grocery store. Are rituals a bad thing? My answer is an emphatic, NO! Think Christmas morning with your family, Easter, church, pep rallies, weddings, town parades, 4th of July, mistletoe kisses and butt pinches when you forget to wear green 🙂  Why deny myself that ritual? The ritual isn’t the killer…. the killer is the two cups of sugar in that gallon of ice cream.  Today, I have replaced the ice cream with sugar free pudding. I works for me. My suggestion, do what works for you. JUST DON’T USE!

Back to the topic.

I have come to understand a lot about my food. I was wondering why I love ice cream and milk shakes so much. So I made a list of my absolutely most favorite, OMG foods.

They are:

  • pasta salad
  • chocolate milk shakes
  • left over cold pizza
  • morning after birthday cake
  • milk
  • snow cones
  • hummus
  • chicken salad (not the leafy chicken salad, the other deli in a tub chicken salad)
  • tuna salad
  • cereal
  • PB&J sandwiches
  • refrigerator grazing

What do they all have in common? They are all served cold! I LOVE cold food! So, I am adjusting my my meal plan to include more COLD foods. I now have smoothies for lunch a couple times a week. MEAL PLAN safe smoothies that is 🙂 Please remember that this is all about me right now. Some of you may like hot foods… do what works for you!

This is what I like to do. I have the smoothie girl mix up the following: Bananas, chocolate whey protein (sugar free), ice, a little water, one artificial sweetener, dairy powder and some multi-vitamins.  Now, my meal plan calls for a starch. I’m working on that… give me time. I’ll figure that one out. Progress not perfection. The point is I  have found something that is conducive to my, “sometimes I have to work during lunch” lifestyle.  Plus it’s cold, just the way I like it!

I would love to know what you have discovered that works with your meal plan. Please share!

My name is Brock Cravy and I’m addicted to me.

P.S.  REMEMBER, IF IT BECOMES A TRIGGER CHANGE THE HABIT!!!
