Kristi McCarty
Chief Financial Officer & Co-owner

Kristi McCarty began working part-time at Shades of Hope three months after it opened in February, 1988.  She also attended college at this time and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.  In June of 1994 Kristi took a “sabbatical” from Shades to fulfill a lifelong dream of teaching and coaching.  She went back to college to earn her Teacher Certification and taught at the Masonic Home and School for Children in Fort Worth for three years.  In 1998 she returned to Shades to become the Chief Financial Officer and continues to serve in that capacity.  In late 2005 Kristi purchased a portion of the business and became business partners with her parents, Tennie and R.L. McCarty. Due to her wanting to be a present force in raising her son, Spencer, Kristi is not involved in the day-to-day operations of the facility, preferring to keep the Shades books from her home office.  She feels blessed to have been a part of Shades for 16 years and has seen many clients come and go, observing the many miracles walking around today because of the work done at Shades.
