In this riveting new docu-series, eight people battle their addiction to the one thing they literally can’t live without: food. At Shades of Hope, a rural Texas treatment center, these desperate clients struggle through an intense 42-day treatment plan led by maverick therapist Tennie McCarty.
In the series premiere of Addicted to Food, the new clients arrive in tiny Buffalo Gap, Texas to check into treatment. Wrestling with either compulsive overeating or bulimia, each member of the group embarks on a 42-day journey that will turn their worlds upside down. Drama erupts early when chronic bulimic Elizabeth allegedly purges within hours of arrival, and subsequently angers the group with her constant prying. And Dejuali, a 45-year-old virgin, admits for the first time that she’s turned to food because she’s afraid to tell her family she is a lesbian.
